Dot

Terms of Use

Last updated November 5, 2026

By using Dot you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

What Dot is

Dot turns what you say into reminders and sends them to your phone and to family members you link. It is an everyday helper, not a guarantee.

Not for critical or emergency use

Dot is an informal convenience tool. Never rely on it for medication, medical care, safety, legal or court dates, financial or payment deadlines, travel check-ins, or anything where a missed reminder could cause harm or loss. Keep your own backup for anything important.

Delivery is not guaranteed

Reminders depend on your phone, its battery and notification settings, your internet connection, and notification services run by Apple, Google and others that we do not control. Reminders may arrive late or not at all.

Check what Dot heard

Dot uses automated speech and language tools that can mishear names, dates or times. You are responsible for reviewing each reminder before saving it and for correcting mistakes.

Your account and paired phones

  • You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to create an account.
  • Phones you pair have no account of their own. They work only through your account, and you are fully responsible for who uses them and for everything done on them.
  • By pairing a phone, you confirm you are that person's parent, legal guardian, or are otherwise authorized, and you accept responsibility for their use of Dot.
  • Keep your QR codes private. Remove a paired phone in Settings if it's lost or shared.
  • Only send reminders to people who are happy to receive them.
  • You can delete your account at any time in Settings.

Fair use

Don't misuse Dot, try to break it, or use it to harass anyone. We may suspend accounts that do.

Your content

Your reminders belong to you. You let us store and process them only to run Dot for you.

No warranty and limited liability

Dot is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, including that it will be accurate, uninterrupted or error-free.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any missed, late or wrong reminder, or for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, including lost money, missed appointments or deadlines. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US $50.

Your responsibility

You agree to cover any claims, costs or losses brought against us that come from your use of Dot, the phones you pair, or the reminders you send to others.

Disputes

If there's a problem, please contact us first so we can try to fix it. Any dispute that can't be resolved will be handled individually through binding arbitration or small-claims court, and not as part of a class action or group claim, where the law allows. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

Changes

We may update these terms. We'll change the date above, and continuing to use Dot means you accept the new terms.
